A Peek Into My Wooly World: Workshops, Adventures & a Grateful Heart

If you've ever been to my home studio near the ocean in Halls Head, Mandurah, you'll know it's a cozy, slightly chaotic, very welcoming space — wool everywhere, a kettle always on, and usually a half-finished sheep watching over the proceedings. I wanted to take a minute to share what's been happening here at Sheep to Shore, what's coming up, and why this strange little wool-and-ocean-themed life I've built means so much to me.
Two Workshops I'm Especially Excited About
Ocean Textured Wool Painting — Thursday 2 July, 9am–1pm, $85
This one's close to my heart. We blend, layer and texture wool, silk, cotton, bamboo and other fibres to capture the colour and movement of the ocean — no painting experience needed, just a willingness to get your hands into the fibre. There are 4 spots left.
Gumnut Brooch — Thursday 30 July, 9.30am–12.30pm, $75
A gorgeous beginner project, and a sneaky stepping stone too — once you've got the hang of shaping a gumnut, you've got the foundation for making full-length felted flowers down the track. Also 4 spots left.
Materials for both range from $6 for the gumnut to $18-28 for the Ocean Textures depending on the frame you choose). If you don't have your own tools yet, a $25 kit covers everything you need — for every workshop, not just these two.

My Home Studio (and a Quick PSA)
My studio is genuinely my favourite room in the house — natural light, surrounded by my wool and creations, and just enough mess to feel lived-in. I run workshops here most weeks. A small but important note: I've got two private workshops happening over the next fortnight, so if you spot "private" listed on a workshop on my website, that booking is reserved for a specific group who's already arranged it with me directly. If you weren't part of that conversation but are interested in that workshop — flick me a message and I'll happily sort something out for you.
I also take Sheep to Shore on the road for private workshops, either at someone's home or at a community or arts venue. Let me know if you are interested?
## Adventures Coming Up
A couple of things I'm genuinely looking forward to:
Murray Arts and Crafts Winterschool — Monday 13 July. Bookings are through TryBooking: www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1587245
Nannup Flower and Garden Festival — Saturday 15 & Sunday 16 August. I'll be teaching the festival's iconic Tulip in one workshop, and a Monarch Butterfly in the other where I use a lovely new technique — fine needle felting onto soluble fibre. Festival booking details aren't live yet, but I'll pop the link into the workshops page on my website the moment they are — keep an eye out.
If Nannup's too far for you, I'm also running the Monarch Butterfly workshop closer to home in Halls Head ($75) on the 7th July.
## A Morning at The Restore, Serpentine
A little while back I ran a sheep workshop for eleven women at The ReStore in Serpentine. It is a wonderful venue, warm and creative. The lovely Leah runs and organises many different workshops there, so if you are in the area check them out:
Being with these wonderful women reminded me of how supportive we can be when together, and how crafting, the gentle rhythm of making things, of using our hands and sitting in the presence of others can help us deal with grief, loss and pain. I must say that I am always impressed and blessed with how supportive the women who attend my workshops are of each other. Be it a comment on how well they are doing, or sharing a personal story..... another reason I love what I do.
One More (Slightly Silly) Thing before I go!
True confession: I own more felting needles and wool than any reasonable person needs, and I regret nothing. I can usually find the exact shade of wool that I need, or the needle that works just right! I am guessing I am not alone in having such a collection of crafting materials?
